Vantage Point

Wow, I am getting quite a movie marathon done during the holidays. LOL.

Vantage Point is one of the cleverest movies I've seen so far this year. The concept is beautiful. Shoot a movie consisting of eight different perspectives. Which means less numbers of sets, less number of scenic scenes, and more frames shot for an exact same scene. Very clever.

Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow) and Matthew Fox (Lost) really complemented each other. They were spot on in their characters as Secret Service personnel. I believe the best character was Forest Whitaker who was really good in the movie. 5 stars to the cast.

The plot build up was beautiful. It was paced really well, and the order in which the eight perspectives were arranged couldn't have been done better. Whoever wrote the script, man, you are pwnage! My only criticism would be the occasional boring banter between the Secret Service and the President. Some of the chit chat in the room (before the terrorist came) were quite unconvincing.

Car chase scene was superb! Thoroughly enjoyed the narrow street chase and the unexpected small car versus a truck incident. Very nicely done.

A good movie to see, put it in your 2008 movies-to-watch list. You won't be disappointed (I think).

8/10
