I applied for a part-time job as an English teacher at a private school since I have way too much time on weekends. I didn't get it. Not because of my qualifications (which are quite extensive, even though I am only 20), but, as the title suggests, because of my gender.

Hi!
Thank you for your interest in applying to our company.
But I regret to inform you that we only accept female applicants.
Man that's crazyness! I kinda figured that sexism when it comes to employment was virtually gone. Sucks bro. My college classes I'm taking now are covering sexism lol..this totally goes opposite of what they tell me.

I'm studying it too this term. Here in my college it's called Gender Studies, or Genders for short.
ReplyDeleteI'm cool with it. If a work place is gonna be like that, then I sure as hell won't want to work there.

ReplyDeleteIt's not a biggie, but thanks Tabs. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah. I doubt that they believed I've been teaching since I was 15. Ahaha..
I wouldn't have a problem in any tuition center back in Malaysia.

Maybe I'm not supposed to act all clever and teach American English when I am British-English educated. LOL.
