We only have this planet. Forever. Let's take care of it!
The small things count. |
- Dine in; take-outs use up 2-3 plastic bags (plus the plastic utensils).
- Skip the extra plastic bag when buying something already boxed.
- Print on both sides.
- Skip the bottled drink for the water fountain. Save calories too!
- Skip the cigarette. Better yet, quit.
- Unplug fully-charged gadgets.
- Get reading materials (magazines, newsletters) online.
- Send locally-made greeting cards instead of imported, plastic-packaged ones.
- Wash and keep plastic utensils. They come in handy during house parties.
- Empty wine bottles make great home decor.
- The pedicab, while more expensive, has zero emissions. Consider.
- Stairs.
- If you can see people, it's not too far to walk.
- Sweep instead of using the vacuum cleaner.
- Buy in bulk.
- Disable the screensaver. Switch off the monitor instead.
- Switch off the air-conditioner at lunch time.
- e-books.
- Get the largest bottle of shampoo. Better yet, the 2-in-1 shower gel + shampoo combo.
- Use the notepad feature on gadgets for notes.
- Sign up for e-billing.
- Get flat-packed furniture.
- Consider donating before disposing.
- Take the train instead of the cab.
- Open the windows on a windy day.
- Clean appliances are energy-efficient appliances.
- Laundry and ironing: do in bulk once a week.
- Dolphin-safe canned tuna.
- Use paperclips. Paperclips can be reused; staples can't.
- Save paper, send emails.
You forgot: reuse your plastic bags at the supermarket! =D
